Govt announces general holiday on February 21

SHILLONG, Feb 18: The state government has declared February 21 as a general holiday in the whole of East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills, Eastern West Khasi Hills, Ri-Bhoi, East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills district on account of election to the KHADC and JHADC.
Employees working in Garo Hills, who are electorates under the constituencies of the two councils, will be granted special leave.
Industrial undertaking or any of the establishment governed by the NI Act, 1881, shops and those working on shift basis, daily wage, casual worker including those working outside the constituencies who are voters under the above constituencies will also be entitled to the benefit of a paid holiday as provided in Section 133(2)(b). This was informed by the Commissioner and Secretary, General Administration Department.
Special leave
The state government has declared that the central government employees of Meghalaya, who are electorates under the constituencies of the KHADC and JHADC will be granted special leave on February 21 on account of the district council election.
