Shillong, Feb 22: The 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organized by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, witnessed another thrilling day of cricket action on Day 17, with Cricket Lovers and Sohra Combines emerging victorious in their respective matches.
Cricket Lovers dominated their clash against Cricket Smit, securing a convincing 54-run victory.
Winning the toss, Cricket Smit opted to bowl first. Cricket Lovers capitalized on the opportunity, posting a formidable total of 173/4 in 20 overs.
Shavian Blah led the charge with a well-crafted 69 off 50 balls, while Raymond Thabah impressed with the ball, conceding only 12 runs in his four overs and taking one wicket.
In response, Cricket Smit struggled to build momentum and were bowled out for 119 in 18.4 overs.
Shankupar Kharbangar was the lone fighter, scoring 36 off 28 deliveries. However, Cricket Lovers’ bowling attack, led by Synrapsing Riahtam, who took 3 wickets for just 10 runs in 3 overs, ensured a comfortable win for their side. At the end, Cricket Lovers won by 54 runs.
Md Muksodul Choudhury was adjudged Player-of-the-Match.
In the second match of the day, Sohra Combines outclassed Laitkynsew CC, clinching a 40-run victory.
Winning the toss, Sohra Combines opted to bat first and posted 123/5 in 18 overs. Pherson Diengdoh anchored the innings with a crucial 57 off 44 balls, while Jesper Malngiang chipped in with the ball, taking 1/7 in 2 overs.
Laitkynsew CC faltered in their chase, getting bowled out for just 83 in 16.1 overs. Mortician Malngiang top-scored with 20 off 18 balls, but the innings crumbled under the brilliant bowling display of Kevin Diengdoh, who picked up a stunning five-wicket haul for just 10 runs in 3 overs. At the end Sohra Combines won by 40 runs. Kevin Diengdoh was adjudged Player-of-the-Match.
With these results, the tournament continues to heat up as teams battle for supremacy in the East Khasi Hills District League T20. Fans can look forward to more thrilling encounters in the coming days.
