Delhi records warmest Feb night in 74 years
New Delhi, Feb 27: Delhi recorded its warmest February night in 74 years, with the minimum temperature at Safdarjung reaching 19.5 degrees celsius on Thursday — the highest for the month in the period between 1951to 2025, according to the IMD. “Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 19.5 degrees celsius today, February 27, 2025. This is the highest minimum temperature ever recorded for February at Safdarjung between 1951 and 2025,” the IMD said, adding that data prior to 1951 was unavailable. (PTI)
Minister warns against use of polythene sheets in Idli making
Bengaluru, Feb 27: The Food Safety Department of Karnataka has found that 52 hotels using polythene sheets to prepare Idli, Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said on Thursday. According to him, polythene, especially the thin sheets, are carcinogenic and the government will not allow such practices in the hotel industry. “Food Safety department had collected Idli samples at 251 places across Karnataka. Earlier clothes were used for cooking Idlis but we got the information that recently the hotels have started using plastic. So our officers went to various spots and conducted an inquiry,” Rao told reporters. (PTI)
Man bites off friend’s ear, swallows it
Thane, Feb 27: A Thane resident allegedly bit off a part of his friend’s ear and even swallowed it after the two got into an argument at a party, an official said on Thursday. The incident occurred in a posh housing society in the Patlipada area on Wednesday morning, said the official from Kasarvadavali police station. (PTI)
Class 10 student delivers baby
Jajpur, Feb 27: A class 10 student in Odisha’s Jajpur district has given birth to a baby girl, officials said on Thursday. The girl had abdominal pains at her home on Wednesday and her family rushed her to the Bari hospital, they said. According to the additional district medical office, the class 10 student gave birth to a baby girl at a government hospital on Wednesday. The ADMO said that the newborn was admitted in the pediatric ICU as her health condition was not good. The mother along with the newborn baby was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital. Jajpur District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Niranjan Kar said that the class-10 student had appeared in two papers of the matriculation examination and she was supposed to write the mathematics paper on Thursday.
