SHILLONG, March 13: The last day of budget session saw the introduction and passage of several crucial bills.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, in charge of Finance and Planning, moved multiple bills, including The Meghalaya Appropriation (No. II) Bill, 2025, The Meghalaya Ceiling on Government Guarantee Bill, 2025, The Meghalaya State Investment Promotion & Facilitation (Amendment) Bill, 2025, The Meghalaya Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and The Contingency Fund of Meghalaya (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Minister in charge of Taxation Abu Taher Mondal introduced The Meghalaya Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Home Prestone Tynsong moved The Meghalaya Police (Amendment) Bill, 2025. During the session, several reports were also laid. The chief minister presented the 10th Annual Report of the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency for the year 2021-22, a statement on quarterly trends and receipts, and audit reports, including Finance Accounts Volumes I and II for 2023-24, the Appropriation Accounts for 2023-24, and the Comptroller and Auditor General’s Report on State Revenues for the year ending March 31, 2023.
Abu Taher Mondal tabled the Bi-Annual Report of the Meghalaya Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act for 2021-22 and 2022-23.
Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar laid the Annual Report of the Meghalaya Infratech Consultancy and Innovation Limited for 2021-22 and 2022-23. Prestone Tynsong also presented a notification regarding amendments to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat (Recruitment and Condition of Service) Rules, 2020.
