Shillong, March 15: Shillong Lajong FC will look to get back to winning ways as they take on Rajasthan United in their next I-League fixture at the Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday.
The match is set to kick off at 4:30 PM and will be broadcast live on Sony Sports Channel, the SSEN mobile app, and the ssen.co website. This fixture marks Lajong’s fifth consecutive away match, a demanding stretch that has tested the team’s resilience and squad depth. The club is coming off a disappointing and dramatic encounter against Churchill Brothers, where they ended the game with just eight men on the pitch. That loss was a setback for Lajong, who now aim to shift their focus towards Rajasthan United and put up a strong performance against the Desert Warriors on their home turf.
Currently, Shillong Lajong occupy sixth place in the I-League standings with 26 points from 18 matches. They are level on points with fifth-placed Namdhari FC, with only the head-to-head record keeping them behind. With the league entering its decisive phase, every point is crucial, and Lajong will be determined to climb back into the top four.
The last meeting between Shillong Lajong and Rajasthan United was nothing short of a spectacle, with Lajong inflicting an 8-0 thrashing on their opponents in Shillong.
That emphatic victory remains one of the standout performances of the season, and Lajong will be eager to draw inspiration from that result as they head into this rematch. However, they are well aware that Rajasthan United will be motivated to redeem themselves and will be a different challenge on home soil. For Lajong, the key to success will be their ability to maintain defensive discipline while capitalizing on attacking opportunities. They will need to recover quickly from their previous outing and ensure that their squad is at full strength to compete against a determined Rajasthan side.
With both teams having plenty to play for, this encounter promises to be an exciting and intense battle in the I-League. Shillong Lajong fans will be hoping for a strong response from their team as they look to re-establish their position among the league’s top contenders.
