KSU to observe Natl Awakening Movement Day tomorrow

SHILLONG, April 2: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) will observe the annual National Awakening Movement Day (Sngi Kyrsiew Ri) on Friday at Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills.
The East Jaintia Hills district unit of the KSU will organise a procession from the football ground at Dkhiah West to the life-size statue of U Kiang Nangbah in Khliehriat.
This will be followed by a public rally at 1 pm.
It may be mentioned that April 4 is observed as Khasi National Awakening Day to commemorate the day when freedom fighter U Tirot Sing waged war against the British on April 4, 1829.
