1517 dancers mark 114th Shad Suk Mynsiem Celebration

Shillong, April 7: A total of 1517 traditional dancers including 830 males and 687 females, participated in the 114th celebration of Shad Suk Mynsiem at Madan Weiking on Monday, the harvest festival of the Khasi community.

This year also marks the 125th anniversary of the Seng Khasi Kmie.

On the occasion, the government announced the construction of an Indigenous Cultural Centre at Mawkhar under the Tourism Department.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh, and Health and Welfare Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh were present at the event.
