St. Alfred SS wins District-Level Inter-School Athletic Meet

Nongpoh, April 17: St. Alfred Secondary School, Marngar, emerged as the Overall Champion of the District-Level Inter-School Athletic Meet 2025, held at the NSCA Mini Stadium, Pahamsyiem.
The three-day event concluded on Saturday, featuring spirited participation from 36 schools and over 900 student-athletes across various age groups.
The annual athletic meet, organised by the Office of the District Sports Officer (DSO), Ri Bhoi, in association with the Athletic Committee of the Ri Bhoi District Sports Association (RBDSA), showcased fierce yet friendly competition and commendable talent among school athletes.
St. Alfred Secondary School dominated the event by bagging nine trophies, including Best Team titles in the Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18 girls’ categories, as well as the Under-18 boys’ division.
The school’s athletes also stood out individually, clinching multiple honours for their stellar performances on the track and field.Other schools too made their mark. MeECL Secondary School, Nongsder, secured the Best Team award in the Under-14 boys’ category, while St. Jude Secondary School, Umpher, topped the Under-16 boys’ division.
Christian Higher Secondary School, Pahamsyiem, also shone with individual awards in the Under-14 boys’ category.
Winners from the district will now advance to represent Ri Bhoi at the upcoming State-Level Inter-School Athletic Meet 2025, scheduled to be held in Shillong.
The selected athletes will undergo intensive training in preparation for the next stage of competition. (PTI)
