Urban schools dominate MBoSE HSSLC results

Laban Bengalee Boys’ and St. Anthony’s maintain academic excellence in Science, Commerce; St Edmund’s shines in Arts stream

SHILLONG, May 5: Urban educational institutions once again dominated the toppers’ list across the Science, Commerce, and Arts streams, the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) exam results declared by MBoSE on Monday showed.
This year, 29,278 students appeared for the examinations across four streams — Arts (22,835), Science (3,922), Commerce (2,501), and Vocational (20). All streams recorded pass percentages above 80%. The Arts stream registered a pass percentage of 82.05%, Science recorded 82.94%, Commerce 81.28%, and the Vocational stream stood at 85%.
In the Science stream, Saptarshi Bhattacharjee from Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School secured the top position with 483 marks, the highest score across all streams this year. The same school’s Debojit Malakar secured the 5th position, re-establishing Laban Bengalee Boys’ consistent academic excellence in the Science stream.
St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, delivered a stellar performance in Science as well, producing six students in the top 10 merit list. The school had 13 rank holders across streams. Drishana Roychoudhury secured the 2nd position with 477 marks, followed by Shweta Sarma in the 3rd position with 473 marks, and Iairi Dapynsuk Swett in the 4th position with 469 marks. Gary K. Gangte, Jeson Sumer, and Soma Biswas secured the 6th, 7th, and 9th positions, respectively.
North Liberty Higher Secondary School, Jowai, also made its presence felt in the Science stream with two of its students securing top ranks. Reesa Ee Christine Suting bagged the 5th position with distinction in all subjects, while Rilanaika Sari secured the 9th position, also with distinction in all subjects.
In the Commerce stream, Disha Chokhani of St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School topped the list with 481 marks.
Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School also excelled in Commerce, with three of its students making it to the top 10. Nishan Talukdar secured the 2nd position with 476 marks, while Dipankar Barua came 3rd with 468 marks.
Ankita Modak and Saniya Hussain made it to the top 10 from St Edmund’s in the Commerce stream.
In the Arts stream, St. Edmund’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, dominated with six students securing top positions. Albert Mate and Idawanplishisha Swer jointly secured the 1st rank with 455 marks each. Other high achievers from the school included Nangrim Mangsang Sangma (5th), Alvareen Mebaaihun Lyngdoh (8th), and Amanda Lyngwa (9th).
Adding to the Arts stream’s highlights, Nelly Mary Khymdeit from St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School, Nongpoh, secured the 2nd position with 451 marks. She earned distinction in five subjects, including Political Science and Sociology, bringing pride to her school and community.
