Suspected drone attack injures 22 in NW Pakistan
PESHAWAR, May 28: At least 22 people, including seven children, were injured in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province during a drone attack near Karamzi Stop. The incident occurred near Barmal tehsil in South Waziristan district, where 22 people were watching a match. The injured were shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Wana, with many injured in critical condition. A 13-year-old and a man were listed as “serious”, while seven, including three aged 15, 18, and 19 years, had “major” injuries. The rest of the 13 had “minor” injuries, with two discharged. National Assembly Member Zubiair Khan condemned the attack, stating that it was a brutal act. The Pakistan Army rejected allegations of unfounded and misleading allegations against security forces in connection with the drone strike in the Mir Ali area. (PTI)

Pak forces kill four militants in Balochistan
Karachi, May 28: Pakistani security forces killed four militants from a banned separatist outfit in the Musakhel district of Balochistan province. The militants were involved in attacks on buses and abducting passengers from other provinces at Rarra Sham highway. The four were killed while trying to escape into the mountains. The presence and growing attacks by separatist groups led by the Balochistan Liberation Army remain a challenge for security forces in the province. Pakistan has experienced a surge in terror incidents since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021, particularly in the bordering provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. (PTI)

Indian teacher arrested in Maldives after student’s injury
MALE, May 28: An Indian teacher has been arrested in the Maldives for allegedly twisting and dislocating an 11-year-old student’s finger. The incident occurred at a school on Thaa Atoll island. The teacher was arrested under a court order but was not released. The teacher is accused of twisting the student’s finger and causing the injury. The incident occurred when the student’s water bottle hit the teacher, who then grabbed the student’s finger. The teacher helped relocate the dislocated joint, and the student’s father reported that the teacher contacted him as his son was crying in pain. (PTI)

Indian embassy raises missing citizens’ case with Iran
TEHRAN, May 28: The Indian Embassy has reported the disappearance of three Indian citizens from the same family, who went missing after reaching Iran. The family members informed the Embassy that their relatives were missing. The Embassy has taken the matter to Iranian authorities and has requested their safety to be ensured. They are also keeping family members updated on the Embassy’s efforts. The Embassy has not provided details on the time and location of the disappearance. (PTI)
