BOULDER (US), June 2: A man with a makeshift flamethrower attacked a pro-Israeli rally in Boulder, Colorado, injuring eight people on Sunday. The suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, reportedly shouted “Free Palestine” and threw incendiary devices at a group gathered to raise awareness about hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. Some victims suffered burns, and authorities are treating the incident as an act of terrorism.
The attack occurred during the Jewish holiday of Shavuot at the Pearl Street pedestrian mall. Witnesses described chaos as Molotov cocktails were thrown and people rushed to help the injured. One attacker caught himself on fire before being arrested without resistance. Victims ranged in age from 52 to 88.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the “vicious terror attack,” and U.S. officials increased security at Jewish sites. The FBI and Justice Department are investigating the case as ideologically driven violence. The assault follows rising tensions and antisemitic incidents in the U.S. linked to the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. (AP)
