SHILLONG, June 20: Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla has announced that a proposal worth Rs 30 crore is being prepared for the renovation and expansion of Kiang Nangbah Government College.
Established in 1967, the college is one of the oldest in Jaintia Hills and is in urgent need of repairs and additional classrooms.
Shylla, accompanied by college principal LM Darnei, PWD officials and teaching staff, undertook an inspection of the college campus on Thursday. His visit follows Chief Minister Conrad Sangma’s recent tour of Jowai.
During the inspection, Shylla reviewed the canteen, the proposed site for the Professors’ Quarters, and the dilapidated auditorium, classrooms and the library.
Speaking to reporters, Shylla said, “The dream of the people of Jaintia Hills is to see the overall development of the college.”
“Plans for the renovation and expansion of the college would be prepared and estimated at around Rs 30 crore and hoped that the government will do the needful so that the students’ community will benefit,” he added.
