LONDON, July 13: Over 70 people were arrested in the UK following protests against the Palestine Action group, which was proscribed a terrorist organization by the British government.
The group was banned after a break-in and vandalism at a Royal Air Force base in Oxford, England, on June 20. The incident caused around 7 million pounds ($9.4 million) of damage.
Four people aged 22-35 were charged with conspiracy to commit criminal damage and conspiracy to enter a prohibited place for purposes prejudicial to the UK’s interests. The outlawing of Palestine Action has made support for the group a criminal offense.
The group’s outlawing has led to 29 arrests at a similar protest last weekend. (AP)
