DHAKA, Aug 7: Bangladesh’s Awami League has strongly condemned the ‘July Declaration’ released by the interim government’s Chief Advisor, Muhammad Yunus, as a “malicious, politically motivated document.”
The party criticized the Yunus-led interim government for systematically distorting the history, spirit, and values of the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, highlighting the contribution of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The Awami League argued that the declaration serves as a shield for anti-independence, anti-national, and anti-people forces, concealing tyranny and militarism while promoting democratic culture.
The party emphasized that during the Liberation War, the entire nation stood united behind the “Declaration of Independence of the Sovereign People’s Republic of Bangladesh,” which served as a de facto constitution before the formal constitution was adopted.
The party deemed the ‘July Declaration’ a divisive attempt and a ploy to fracture the nation. (IANS)
