SHILLONG, Aug 23: Central government civil pensioners in Meghalaya on Friday formed a new body following a general meeting held at KRWO’s Community Hall, Keating Road, Shillong.
The body, named the Forum of Central Government Pensioners of Meghalaya, was created to serve as a platform to address the welfare concerns of retired central government employees in the state.
The meeting, presided over by senior pensioner JL Das, deliberated extensively on key issues affecting pensioners and resolved to coordinate collective initiatives through the newly established forum.
Office-bearers and executive members were also elected to lead the forum until a state-level convention is convened in Shillong after the upcoming festive season.
During the meeting, JL Das was chosen as president, DK Das as vice president, Bijon Dey as general secretary, M. Khyllep as additional general secretary, Ramani Bhattacharjee as joint secretary, et al.
The forum announced that its forthcoming convention later this year will finalise its structure and outline the roadmap for addressing the welfare needs of pensioners in Meghalaya.
