TURA, Aug 28: The Hajong Students’ Union (HSU) and the Meghalaya Koch Students’ Union (MKSU) on Thursday urged the South West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police, to expedite the issuance of domicile certificates under the ‘Fastrack Program’ for minority indigenous tribal candidates aspiring to join the Border Security Force (BSF).
The two organisations submitted a joint representation on highlighting that delays in issuing domicile certificates were causing serious difficulties among aspirants. They informed that the upcoming special recruitment rally/drive for the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category in Meghalaya, announced by the BSF for the post of Constables (General Duty), was a rare opportunity for candidates.
The application window for the recruitment is scheduled between September 2 and September 18, 2025.
Bapu Hajong, president of Hajong Students’ Union, and Kandarpa Koch, president of Meghalaya Koch Students’ Union, urged the police chief to look into the matter as well as consider relaxing the verification process for genuine indigenous tribal candidates.
