SHILLONG, Aug 28: North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) on Thursday launched a series of cascading Karmayogi workshops at its Shillong campus to promote a citizen-centric work culture and enhance service delivery.
The programme aims to bring together teaching and non-teaching staff in structured, day-long sessions conducted by NEHU’s certified Master Trainers, with additional batches scheduled at the Tura campus.
Chairing the inaugural session, Prof S Umdor, Pro Vice-Chancellor, highlighted the essence of being a Karmayogi — working with ‘seva-bhav’, accountability, and a citizen-first mindset.
Prof S Dixit, Registrar (In-charge), underscored the importance of the workshops in aligning the University’s processes and culture with national capacity-building goals.
Prof DK Biswal, Coordinator, expressed gratitude to various Schools and Sections for facilitating broad participation and the smooth conduct of the programme across batches.
The Master Trainers leading the sessions at the Shillong campus include Dr Rajesh Bajpai (Environmental Studies), Dr Vinit Kumar Chaubey (Mathematics), and KH Lanong (Assistant Registrar, Finance).
Policy backdrop: The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Government of India, has mandated annual course completion and a comprehensive assessment on the iGOT Karmayogi portal, with outcomes to be reflected in the Annual Performance Appraisal Report (APAR) beginning in the 2025-26 reporting cycle.
Today’s workshops aim to equip NEHU personnel to effectively meet these requirements.
