NEW DELHI, Jan 14: BJP national working president Nitin Nabin will soon visit Meghalaya to review the party’s organisational strength, senior leader and former Cabinet Minister AL Hek said on Tuesday.
Hek, who met Nabin in New Delhi, stated that the visit’s schedule will be finalized after Nabin is formally elected as the BJP National President on January 20. Nabin is set to succeed J.P. Nadda.
The BJP currently has two MLAs in the 60-member Meghalaya House—Hek and Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai.
Nabin, a five-term MLA and Bihar Minister, was appointed working president in December. He is expected to file his nomination for the presidency on January 19, with BJP Chief Ministers and senior national leaders scheduled to attend the event in Delhi. His appointment is widely seen as a move by the party to promote younger leadership.
Since taking over as working president, Nabin has been overseeing election preparations in several states, including Assam, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu. He recently visited Assam and Tamil Nadu to assess the party’s readiness for upcoming assembly polls.
