ICAR holds awareness programme for farmers

Tura, June 10: The ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), West Garo Hills organized an awareness programme on “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” at its campus on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

BJP leader and Tura MDC, Bernard N. Marak was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Bernard emphasized the importance of green manuring, composting, and the use of locally available resources for improving soil health and sustaining agricultural productivity. He appreciated the efforts of ICAR-KVK in creating awareness among farmers on soil health management, organic farming, and natural farming practices. Highlighting the vision of Atmanirbhar Krishi, he stressed the need for making Meghalaya self-reliant in agriculture.

The programme was also attended by Anish Momin, District President, BJP, West Garo Hills; Prodeep Sangma, Deputy Project Director, ATMA, West Garo Hills; KVK officials; and a large number of farmers.
