SHILLONG: From being handcuffed and confined to a dark room to being made to run from one place to another at night, abducted coal dealer, Dinarsing Syiemlieh had to go through it all during his 15-day captivity.
Speaking to The Shillong Times on Sunday Syiemlieh said that he was rarely allowed to “relieve himself” and the food given was only sufficient to ensure survival. “They made me run in the dark and many a time, I tumbled and fell down. They would not allow even a flicker of light,” Syiemlieh said adding that the abductors spoke in Garo and Hindi.
“They took me on a bike and released me at Baghmara. Prior to that they took me to Assam border with no fencing,” Syiemlieh, who was taken to Bangladesh after abduction, said. He, however, refused to confirm whether any ransom was paid to the abductors.
Meanwhile, on behalf of the family members and friends, the wife of Syiemlieh thanked everyone for extending support their to the family during the time of crisis.
In a statement issued here the wife Probina Diengngan said, “We are grateful to the NGOs, the media and all other organisations besides the State Government for the support extended to us,” she said.
Syiemlieh was abducted on December 4 from Kolagoan coal depot near Umsur in Borsora, South West Khasi Hills.
