SHILLONG: The KSU members on Saturday closed down the BK Bajoria school alleging that the school conducted classes for the students to compensate the Shad Suk Mynsiem holiday scheduled for Monday.
Classes were held for students from class 1 to 12 on Saturday.
However, the Principal, of BK Bajoria School, B.Majaw, clarified that classes were scheduled for Saturday not to compensate the holiday on Monday, but it was to compensate a closure declared on March 28 to carry out repair work of a road and classrooms of the school.  Necessary notices were also given in this regard.
The classes started at 8. 40 am and was scheduled to be over at 3 pm on Saturday, but the  KSU activists came to the school at around 11 am and stopped the classes.
“There was a misunderstanding  by the group, we have clarified the matter, and showed the notice of holiday declared on March 28. Due to the situation, we had to arrange safe return journey for the students”, Majaw said.
Due to the incident, the Chairman of the School BP Bajoria cancelled his trip to Kolkata from Siliguri for his medical treatment.  A parent said that the School had always respected the local sentiments and holidays, but the act of Students’ Union disturbing the functioning of the school is unwarranted.
