SHILLONG: Irked with the poor performance of the doctor posted in Mawryngkeng Public Health Centre (PHC), the Dorbar Shnong Mawryngkneng on Thursday filed an FIR with the Mawryngkneng police station.
In the FIR, Sordar of the Dorbar Shnong, Peter J Lawai said that the doctor posted in the PHC has chosen to attend duty as per her own wish and takes her own sweet time to reach the hospital and there are times when the doctor does not even turn up.
The FIR further said that the work culture of the doctor at the PHC poses a great threat to the lives of the people of the area and if the situation leads to loss of life, the doctor posted here should be held responsible for negligence of duty while also being liable and accountable for culpable homicide.
As per the FIR, on many occasions, the Dorbar Shnong has approached and requested the concerned doctor to take due responsibility as bestowed but the concerned doctor replied that she is not able to attend her duty on time as she remains engaged with her personal work.
The FIR also said that in the event of any untoward incident, the concerned doctor should be held responsible and action should be taken against her. Acknowledging that he had received the FIR, state health minister AL Hek said that he has directed the department to conduct an inquiry and accordingly submit a report.
