SHILLONG: The recently constituted Meghalaya Electronic Media Association (MEMA) elected its first set of office bearers in a meeting held at the Shillong Press Club on September 9. While Kyrmenlang Uriah was named the president, Elmar War is the working president, Martin Nongkhlaw the general secretary among others.
MEMA is an association of electronic media houses based in Shillong, Jowai and Nongstoiñ.

The Shillong Times first appeared as a tabloid weekly on 10th August 1945 under the editorship of Late Sudhindra Bhusan Chaudhuri. In 1958 it was converted to a Daily. Owing to financial constraints, within six months it reverted back to a weekly.
