Retired college teachers’ association launched in city

SHILLONG: Ronnie V. Lyngdoh, Minister of Art and Culture, Urban Development Affairs etc. Government of Meghalaya, formally launched the Meghalaya Retired College Teachers’ Association (MRCTA) during the open session of the first general council meeting of the retired college teachers of the state held on November 22 at Shillong College.
The Minister expressed his joy and appreciation at the efforts of the retired teachers and assured the teachers that he will certainly play a positive part for the welfare of the retired teachers.
K. D.  Ramsiej, Principal, Shillong College and Chairperson of the Reception Committee, B. Ingty, newly elected president, M. N.  Bhattacharjee, newly elected General Secretary and Manash Das Gupta the elected Vice President also addressed the open session.
At the meeting, the members made a resolution to adopt a constitution of the MRCTA prepared by the ad-hoc Committee constituted for the purpose.
The General Council Meeting also elected unanimously the first ever Executive Council consisting of Sarahline T. Pdah, Pamela Roy Lyngskor, among others and office bearers of the MRCT Association.
A number of serving college teachers, who are about to retire in the next 12 months or so, also attended the meeting while the president and general secretary of the association along with other members were present in the open session.
