Bodies recovered
Two bodies were recovered in two separate incidents from different parts of the state in the last couple of days. On November 22, around 3.30 pm, a man identified as Arun alias Kalia, 35, was found dead inside his rented house at 11th Mile, Mawsmai village in Ri Bhoi district. In another incident, on November 21, a man identified as Hosting Langstang, 68, was found dead inside his paddy field shed at Shangpung in West Jaintia Hills. Necessary formalities were observed and the matter is under enquiry.

Strangulation
Police have arrested one person for attempting to strangulate a driver of a vehicle. Police said that the incident took place on November 20 at about 9pm when three persons hired a Chevrolet Sail car (ML-05N-1936) from Anjali parking lot to Law-U-Sib in the city.  On reaching Law-U-Sib, one of the occupants attempted to strangulate the driver, Rokhelson Nongrang but he managed to escape. The victim reported the matter to police after which they took action and recovered the vehicle from Rynjah. It was discovered that Rs.13,000, two cell-phones and one pen-drive were missing from the vehicle. Police arrested one Khogen Bora in this connection.

Kidnapping
A woman of Umlaper village lodged a complaint that on November 15, her daughter, 15, who was supposed to go to Hailakandi, Assam was found missing. Later, it was discovered that the girl has been abducted by a man  identified as Neelu Das of Kalain, Assam. The matter is presently under investigation and a search operation is being conducted.
Search operation
A search operation conducted by police in South Garo Hills forced a group of miscreants to release two victims whom they abducted. On November 20, at about 1am, eight to ten unidentified miscreants abducted one Md. Somuddin Sheikh and Md. Abdul Hussain from Komla Bagan area under Nangalbibra . Following this, the police conducted a search operation in the area and the miscreants released the abducted victims. The matter is still being investigated.

Nuisance
Continuing its crackdown on people drinking along road side and creating public nuisance, police personnel from Sadar police station on Wednesday apprehended seven boys and a girl while they were consuming alcohol in a vehicle (Maruti Swift) near the Meghalaya Secretariat. The apprehended persons will be dealt with under the Meghalaya Police Act. Police are maintaining strict vigil to ensure that the sale of alcohol in Keating Road does not resurface. It may be mentioned that the Sadar Police has over a period of time realized a fine of over Rs 50 lakh from those consuming alcohol and creating nuisance in public places. Police officials also informed that there will be zero tolerance on people committing such acts.

One killed in accident
On November 20, around 6.30am, one truck (ML-05H-3389) driven by K.K Santosh dashed against one motorcycle (AS-07F-7404) ridden by Barto Borgohain,27, at Nongthymmai. The rider of the motorcycle sustained injuries and was removed to NEIGRIHMS, where he succumbed to his injuries. The matter is under enquiry.
