SHILLONG: As many as 10 bills of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) are yet to receive the assent of the Governor.
The bills are the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Constitution of Council of Traditional Dorbar) Bill 2016, the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Conservation and Promotion of Khasi Social Customs and Traditions) Bill 2016, the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Nomination and Election of the Syiem, Deputy Syiem, Myntri and Rangbah Shnong of Malai Sohmat Syiemship) Bill 2016, the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Nominations and Election of the Syiem, Basan and Sordar Shnong of Mawiang Syiemship) Bill 2016, the United Khasi Jaintia Hills Autonomous District (Management and Control of Forest) (Sixth Amendment) Bill 2016, the United Khasi Jaintia Hills Autonomous District (Fishery) (Second Amendment) Bill 2016 and the United Khasi Jaintia Hills Autonomous District (Nomination and Election of the Syiem and Electors of Nongspung Syiemship), Bill 2016.
In addition, the Governor is yet to give his assent to other bills like the United Khasi Jaintia Hills Autonomous District (Appointment of Sirdar and Headman of Myrdom Sirdarship) Bill 2016, the United Khasi Jaintia Hills Autonomous District (Nomination and Election of the Syiem, Deputy Syiem, Lyngdoh, Myntri and Sordar Shnong of Nohasohpoh Syiemship) Bill 2016 and the United Khasi Jaintia Hills Autonomous District (Appointment and Succession of the Sordar, Myntri and Headman of Mawdon Sirdarship) Bill 2016.
