SHILLONG: State BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh may discuss the controversy surrounding former Meghalaya Governor V Shanmuganathan with the party’s national president Amit Shah during his visit to the State later this year.
Speaking to The Shillong Times on the issue, Lyngdoh said that he has shared with the Centre all the information he had about the controversy. “It now depends on the Centre to take a call on the issue,” he added. Lyngdoh tried to raise the matter for discussion in the BJP’s national executive meeting in Bhubaneswar earlier this month, but could not do so due to the short duration of the meet.
“The executive meeting was only for two days and the agenda was fixed. Hence, I could not raise the issue,” he said.
Shanmuganathan was forced to resign on January 26 last after nearly 100 employees of the Raj Bhavan lodged a complaint with the Prime Minister and the President for his alleged role in turning the Raj Bhavan into a ‘young ladies club’. The governor was also accused of molesting a job aspirant at the Raj Bhavan.
Earlier, the Meghalaya BJP had moved the Centre urging it to ensure a fair and impartial probe into the sudden removal of Shanmuganathan stating that there was a conspiracy into the allegations made by the Raj Bhavan staff.
