AIZAWL: The death anniversary of Mizo leader Laldenga was observed today with people laying wreaths at his burial place at the Treasury Square here.
Prominent among those congregated were former Chief Minister Zoramthanga and Lalbiakdiki, the widow of Laldenga. A memorial stone was erected at the burial place to pay respect to the departed leader.
Laldenga formed the rebel Mizo National Front (MNF) in 1961 and signed the Mizo Peace Accord on June 30, 1986 ushering in a n era of peace the tiny hill state and became its first chief minister after Mizoram was elevated to a full-fledged state in 1987. He died in London in 1990 on way back to Mizoram from New York where he had gone for treatment. PTI
