 SHILLONG: The first ever Travel and Tourism Bazaar would take place in the city on November 24 and 25.

The event which is being organised by the Fairs & Festivals, Kolkata would be held at All Saints Hall from 10 am to 6 pm.

Fair and festivals representative Sudipto Lahiri said the event would provide the people of Shillong to avail a great range of holiday packages not only to various tourist destinations in India but even to South East Asia at an affordable price.

He further said that the event would have participation from local travel agents, hoteliers and adventure experts.“We are happy to a have few rural tourism projects from Meghalaya like Mawlyngong and Lyngkyrdem in our travel bazaar,” Lahiri said

Replying to a query, he said that the holiday packages is cheaper to Bangkok when compared to that of Mumbai and Goa.“The air fares to Bangkok for to and fro will be around Rs 8,000. The airfares to Mumbai would be higher as it costs around Rs 12,000 for back and forth,” Lahiri said.

While informing that the event is being supported by the Union Ministry of Tourism, he said that they would be holding a larger event in the coming year at Shillong.
