SHILLONG: College teachers of private institutions have urged the chief minister Mukul Sangma to increase their pay.
In a letter addressed to the chief minister on Sunday, the college teachers in the state aired their varied grievances and sought his intervention.
The teachers pointed out that they are struggling to get by with a low salary of not more than Rs 5000 per month and that their work load is heavy.
Further, they reminded the chief minister that five years ago, he had made promises to uplift the well being of the people of four new new districts including the matters related to education.
They lamented that such promises have not been realized till date.
The college teachers added that “even though they are not government officials, they are committed to the duties and responsibilities towards the youths of the state and the nation” and that they are a part of nation builders.
Hence, they urged Sangma to look into their grievances.
