SHILLONG: Despite media reports on model code violation and pre poll violence, the election department has not received any complaints from any quarters.
There were violent incidents reported from Mawsynram where the brother of PDF candidate P N Syiem was attacked and Sohiong where the security personnel of Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh allegedly assaulted HSPDP supporters. However, there was counter FIR lodged by the security personnel against the supporters.
Another case was the alleged violation of model code of conduct by BJP ticket aspirant from South Shillong, Sanbor Shullai.
When asked, the Chief Electoral Officer, Frederick Kharkongor said on Monday that the election department was yet to get any complaints.
“As far as the alleged model code violation of Shullai is concerned, we are following up the matter based on the media report”, Kharkongor said.
More security forces
Ten more companies of central para-military forces will be deployed at the end of this month to ensure smooth conduct of polls, Kharkongor said.
The state already has 10 companies of central forces and 90 additional companies were recently sanctioned by the Centre.
