SHILLONG: Congress president Rahul Gandhi has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking decisions on his own on several issues without any perceivable clarity.
During an interaction with media persons in the city on Wednesday, Rahul cited the examples of the Naga peace accord and decisions on demonetisation and GST.
According to Rahul, many people do not believe the Prime Minister anymore since he has failed to deliver on promises he made.
There are concerns over holding polls in Nagaland as many political parties wanted peace settlement first and the elections later.
In this context, Rahul said that there is lack of clarity on the Naga peace accord between NSCN (IM) and the Centre.
According to Rahul, everybody is in the dark about the peace accord and no proper answer was forthcoming from the concerned authorities.
“Nobody knew what the accord was all about and now you are seeing the result as people are seeking answers. One evening, Prime Minister Modi called Congress President Sonia Gandhi saying that the Naga issue has been solved. We then called our chief ministers of North-eastern states to know whether they were aware of the accord, but nobody knew about it. The chief ministers sought response from the home ministry, but in vain and they also sought a reply from the home minister, who conveyed that he was not aware of it”, Rahul said.
He also pointed out that the Prime Minister is in the habit of taking unilateral and hasty decisions as in the case of demonetisation and implementation of the Goods and Services Tax.
