SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Government has moved a proposal seeking Central government funding for establishing a state-of-the-art diagnostic centre in the city.
An official from the Health department informed that the proposed diagnostic centre will take care of high end tests such as ultrasound, MRI scans and chemotherapy packages.
The government is hoping to build the diagnostic centre on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode, the official said, adding that tests conducted at the proposed centre will be linked to the Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) and National Health Protection Scheme.
Patients from non-BPL families and those not enrolled under MHIS will have to pay a nominal fee for various diagnostic tests in the proposed centre.
The state government has identified two sites for the said centre one of which is Pasteur Institute.
