Sporting Club, Sales XI rise as winners in 2nd division

SHILLONG: In the Cricket League matches on Tuesday, Sporting Club won by 7 wickets and Sales XI won by 6 wickets. In the 1st match, Madanrting won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 102/7 in 20 overs where Raju Singh made 30 runs in 32 balls while Roopam Dey scored 20 runs in 27 balls. Sunimal Hajong and Robert Ralte took 2 wickets each for Sporting Club. Chasing Sporting Club gained 103/3 in 13.5 overs where Bishal Hajong made 46 runs in 32 balls while Sunimal Hajong scored 15 runs in 21 balls. Madanrting CC’s Sonu Sharms and Rohit Kumar took 1 wicket each. In the 2nd match of the League, Sales XI won by 6 wickets with 35 balls to spare against Lumbatngen. Lumbatngen won the toss and elected to bat first making a total of 116/9 in 20 overs. Pritam Sunar scored 32 runs in 32 balls while Udit Rai made 19 runs in 16 balls. Bowling for Sales XI, Swaroop Dey took 2 wickets and Sudip Dey took 2 wickets as well. In reply, Sales XI scored 117/ 4 in 14.1 overs where Tannay Chakraborty made 44 runs in 38 balls and teammate Sudip Dey made 23 runs in 16 balls. Lumbatngen’s Pinku Ghosh took 2 wickets while Jaydeep Ghosh took 1 wicket.
