SHILLONG: The all important MDC elections are just a few days away and the campaigning has intensified in Shillong city apart from rural areas.

In Meghalaya , public meetings and rallies  have become the order of the day and candidates are leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters.

The husband of former Cabinet Minister, and East Shillong MLA, Ampareen Lyngdoh, Fantin J Lakadong is contesting the election for the first time.

Speaking to newsmen here on Friday, Lakadong  said that the Autonomous District Councils in Meghalaya did require anti-defection law so as to bring stability.

He also said that he would go through all the Bills which have been passed by the KHADC and are pending for approval.

Stating that poverty is one of the major challenges in his constituency, he also said that he would raise the issues of the farmers as well who have been suffering.
