Shillong: In the wake of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, the returning officer, Shillong parliamentary constituency and chairman of Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC), informed on Tuesday that no promotions are to be made in the city.
Advertisements, appeals, songs, audio and visual clippings, flags, signboards, flex, posters and banners, and other forms of publicity in connection with the Lok Sabha elections cannot be made without receiving due certification from the MCMC.
Media houses were also advised to exercise caution and refrain from broadcasting any content which may cause undue influence in favour of an intending candidate or party, or which may inadvertently violate the enforced model code of conduct in the city.
