 SHILLONG: A case of forgery in an application for procuring the Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) by submitting fake birth certificates has came to the fore even as the East Khasi Hills district administration has lodged a complaint in this regard. PK Sangma, Extra Assistant Commissioner ( EAC), East Khasi Hills lodged a complaint on Wednesday at Shillong Sadar police station that one Om Prakash Thapa had submitted a fake birth certificate while applying for EPIC from the office of the Deputy Commissioner , East Khasi Hills.

Earlier, the Extra Assistant Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, ML Marak, had lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar Police Station that one Raghubansh Ray had submitted a fake birth certificate allegedly issued by the Registrar of Births and Deaths, Shillong Municipal Board. In yet another case, AS Mukhim, EAC and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, East Khasi Hills, had lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar police station that one Moni Thapa had submitted a fake birth certificate while applying for voter’s identity card.
