Local groups apprehend non-local workers

SHILLONG: FKJGP Nongmynsong circle and Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Nongthymmai circle apprehended a number of non-local labourers while conducting checking on Friday.
In a statement issued here, the FKJGP said it apprehended eight workers without documents. They were brought by a Khasi contractor.
The FKJGP said that they called the contractor to meet him. Later, when the person showed up, he claimed to be a private site engineer and informed that the contractor is not in Shillong. The FKJGP subsequently sent back the labourers. The organisation has warned contactors against using the services of non-local labourers without thoroughly checking their documents such as NRC and labour license etc.
Meanwhile, on the same day, the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Nongthymmai circle through its Super Lapalang Operation conducted checking in Madanryting, Happy Valley areas.
During the inspection, the HYC circle apprehended scores of labourers from neighbouring Assam who did not possess documents such as EPIC, NRC or labour license.The HYC asked the labourers to go back. It also warned house owners against using the services of labourers from outside the state without valid documents. It warned of action if the house owners
