NDFB-S linkman arrested at Runikhata with extortion money

GUWAHATI: Police personnel from Runikhata Police Station in Chirang district apprehended a linkman of the proscribed National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit) during a joint operation carried out with 5th Garhwal Rifles of the Army on Thursday.

The operation was carried out at Dadgiri area under Runikhata Police Station and the  apprehended NDFB(S) linkman was identified as Laben Muchahary (28) son of Anasingh Muchahary from Dakhin Bongaon (Dhalapara), under Runikhata Police Station.

One mobile hand set with a Bhutanese SIM card and cash of Rs. 9990, suspected to be extortion money collected as per instruction of NDFB(S) cadre, namely, Bodosa were recovered from his possession. He has been brought to the police station for further interrogation and follow up action.

Meanwhile, Lakhimpur police seized fake currency notes of Rs. 500 and   Rs. 2000 denominations with a face value of Rs 7 lakh. The police also arrested three persons namely – Moinuddin, Mohidul Islam and Sahidul Islam and  seized six mobile phone sets and a Maruti Alto car from their possession .In this regard a case has been registered at North Lakhimpur Police Station.
