CM introduces Marriage Bill

 SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma introduced the Meghalaya Compulsory Registration of Marriage Bill, 2010 in the Assembly on Wednesday.

The Bill is expected to be debated at length on the concluding day of the Autumn Session on Friday.

The proposed Bill will include compulsory registration of all marriages between people belonging to any caste, tribe or religion contracted as per the customs, practices or traditions. It would also include registration of re-marriages and live-in relationships.
