SHILLONG: Dr Subrata Das, a noted ophthalmologist, a social leader and resident of Kench’s Trace here, died in Guwahati on Thursday after prolonged illness. He was 81.
Dr Das, who was associated with a host of educational and cultural organisations, was cremated in Guwahati.
He leaves behind two sons and a widow.
CPC mourns
Meanwhile, the Central Puja Committee (CPC) has condoled the death of Dr Das, who also happens to be the founder president of the Committee.
In a statement on Thursday, the CPC said it will hold a central condolence meeting at Shillong Bangiya Sahitya Parisad Auditorium, Jail Road, on Sunday at 10:30 am.
