SHILLONG: Nongmyns-ong area on Sunday plunged into darkness since 9am till late evening even while the people alleged that the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) Area manager office looking after that area failed to come to their rescue despite several attempts to reach them.

The residents of Nongmynsong area on Sunday complained that since 9am of Sunday morning till late Sunday evening, the power supply was cut down.

“We tried calling the area office looking after Nongmynsong but despite many attempts, there was no one on the other side to response to the call”, an annoyed resident said.

Meanwhile, when contacted, sources from the MeECL denied receiving any calls while blaming the phone lines of being out of order at the same time, stated that they had no idea that power supply was cut down in Nongmynsong since morning.
