NONGSTOIN: The withdrawal of David H Marwein’s candidature in the upcoming polls have been termed by the people of Nongstoin as a right move considering the strong opponent he had to face in the form of serving MLA of Nongstoin, Hopingstone Lyngdoh.

Marwein had earlier announced his participation in the 2013 polls as an aspirant of the Congress ticket. However, owing to serious health ailments, he has decided to forfeit his participation in the polls, informed his relative from Shillong.

In the last election, Marwein contested for the first time as an independent candidate and secured second position. Earlier this year, even Hopingstone had confessed that the only person he feared he would lose to was David H Marwein.

After his defeat to Hopingstone, he decided that he would join the Congress. Reliable sources from the MPCC also informed that the Congress ticket of Nongstoin was to be allotted to Marwein for the upcoming polls. It may be mentioned that after Marwein’s withdrawal, there remains two Congress ticket aspirants, Bestar Kharbani and Nestingdhar Nongdkhar.
