Home guard personnel assault 4 in cement plant

 JOWAI: Four officials of the cement plant including its assistant general manager human resources, R. Banerjee, were assaulted after home guard personnel, deployed as security guard in the Meghalaya Cement Limited (Topcem Cements), attacked the control room and administrative block of the cement plant on Monday evening.

Other injured persons were identified as Anand Kumar, Bhupes Mishra and Dharmendra Singh.

At around 7:30 pm, a home guard personal entered the Central Control Room (CCR) of the cement plant in an inebriated condition and beat up an employee there.

A senior Official, SK Rai informed that AGM (HR), Banerjee who rushed to the spot, was attacked with a dao and suffered serious injuries.

“Officials of the company tried to apprehended him so that he could be handed over to the Police but escaped and about half an hour later around 45 home guard personnel attacked the Administrative Block where the other three employees were assaulted”, Rai said.

The situation was brought under control after the police reached the spot. The cement plant officials have lodged a complaint with the Lumshnong Police against some home guard personnel.
