NONGPOH, Oct 17: Another fatal road accident has been reported from Ri Bhoi, in which a rider of a scooty (ML 05 S 2975) died on the spot after being hit by a truck (ML 05 R 0556) from the back at Umbang Sumer on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Prem Pradhan (36) of Jail Road, Shillong.
The incident happened around 2:30 pm when the scooterist was proceeding towards Shillong from Nongpoh. However, on reaching Sumer, he was hit by the truck from behind and died on the spot. The truck driver has surrendered himself to the Umiam Police Station and a case has been taken up.
