SHILLONG: The election of the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly will be held sometime in April when the House re-assembles after the session for a few days in March.

According to the Speaker AT Mondal, the pending election of Deputy Speaker is likely to be held on April 18 which will be the concluding day of the session.

During the tenure of the last MUA Government NCP legislator Sanbor Shullai had held the post of Deputy Speaker.

With the NCP supporting the Government, there are indications that Shullai may retain the seat. Another NCP legislator Marthon Sangma was inducted as Parliamentary Secretary on Tuesday.
