Relocation of govt offices to ease traffic woes on cards: Dy CM

SHILLONG, Dec 10: To address the traffic congestion in Shillong, work is under way to relocate government offices, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has revealed.
Tynsong, who was addressing a programme for the inauguration of the Office of the Executive Engineer, PWD (Roads), Mawphlang Division, said that the state government has also decided to shift PWD Shillong South Division to Pynursla in order to address the issue of traffic in the state capital.
The deputy chief minister also said that the inauguration of the Mawphlang Division is the realisation of the long-awaited dream of the people of the area.
He also informed that the state government, following extensive deliberation, had decided to create four new PWD divisions at Dadenggre, Kharkutta, Mawshynrut and Mawphlang with an aim to decentralise the powers of the government and bring the government closer to the public.
It may be mentioned that the programme was also attended by various MLAs, MDCs, PWD officials, members of Hima Mawphlang, among others.
