MAWKYRWAT, Dec 20: The foundation stone for eight road projects in South West Khasi Hills district were laid by Mawkyrwat MLA and PHE Minister Renikton L Tongkhar here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Tongkhar, while appreciating the staff and officials of the department for their efforts, said that half of the projects fall under Mawsaw PWD Sub Division and the rest fall under Mawkyrwat PWD Division.
According to him, some of the projects have been completed, while some are in progress and others yet to begin.
Stating that 14 more schemes are awaiting sanction, the local MLA also revealed that an intermediate road from Lad Mawreng to Weiloi Phase 1 has been sanctioned and tender for the same has been invited too.
He sought the support and cooperation of the people in helping usher in more development in the future.
Others who were present include Executive Engineer, PWD (Roads) Mawkyrwat Division, Assistant Executive Engineer PWD (Roads) Mawkyrwat Division, SI Laso, and Assistant Engineer, Mawkyrwat PWD Division, G Shangdiar.
