GUWAHATI, Jan 5: The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has sold 17,000 tickets for the one day international cricket match between India and Sri Lanka at the 40,000-seat capacity ACA Stadium, Barsapara here on January 10.
Addressing a media conference on Thursday, ACA president Taranga Gogoi informed that the tickets have been sold through both online and offline modes.
Notably, for the convenience of people facing difficulties in buying tickets online, the association has made arrangements for offline sale of tickets on the premises of the Nehru Stadium from Wednesday. “Tickets have been dispatched to our affiliated units as well so as to enable the cricket enthusiasts of the respective places to buy tickets with ease,” Gogoi said.
Commenting on the online sale of tickets, he informed that out of a total number of 20,000 tickets available online, 10,000 were sold as on Thursday.
The ACA president further informed that all necessary arrangements were in place to host the ODI match here next Tuesday.
“The players will be arriving here from January 7 onwards. The association has already discussed the security and other crucial aspects concerning the match with various government agencies concerned in order to ensure seamless conduct of the ODI,” Gogoi said.
Seamless conduct of the ODI here is significant as the ACA Stadium could be in the reckoning for hosting at least a match of the ICC Men’s World Cup to be hosted by India later this year.
