Shillong, July 24: Several Congress-led Opposition members in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have submitted adjournment motion notices on Monday, seeking to discuss the breakdown of law and order in Manipur.

Congress MPs Manish Tewari and Manickam Tagore from Lok Sabha, along with Rajya Sabha MPs Ranjeet Ranjan (Congress), Raghav Chadha and Sanjay Singh (AAP), and RJD’s Manoj Jha, have all given adjournment motion notices to address the situation in Manipur.

Manish Tewari emphasized that the Prime Minister should make a comprehensive statement in both Houses of Parliament, followed by a debate on the issue.

Outside Parliament, Opposition parties under the banner of I.N.D.I.A. protested, demanding the Prime Minister’s statement on the Manipur issue in both Houses.

In response, the Government urged the Opposition to engage in a structured and constructive discussion in Parliament. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi questioned the Opposition’s strategy, wondering why they were avoiding discussions.

In an interesting turn of events, BJP MPs from Rajasthan staged a protest outside Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Parliament, highlighting concerns over the breakdown of law and order in their state.
